Region shows strong support amid growing need

The region once again came together to make a difference through the Interlakes Area United Way’s (IAUW) 2025 Dine Out to Donate event, held on October 1. This year’s effort raised $4,726.44 to help fund programs that directly serve residents of Lake, Miner and Moody counties.
Since the event began in 2017, Dine Out to Donate has raised more than $33,000 to support essential nonprofit services across the region.
“This event continues to show how generous and community-minded our area truly is,” said Karen Giles, interim executive director of IAUW. “A simple meal, snack, or cup of coffee on October 1 turned into thousands of dollars to support programs that help our neighbors every day.”
Lake County restaurants and businesses included The Broadwater, Classic Corner, Country Café, Dairy Queen, Go Go Burrito, One Stop, Pizza Ranch, Sporty’s Bar & Grill, Stadium Sports Grill, Strive 605, Subway, the Lakes Bar & Grill, The Office, Gaylen’s Gourmet Popcorn, and Dakota Cinema.
Moody County participants were Bluejays Bar & Grill and JJ’s Coffee Spot.
Event sponsors — Cherry Lanes, Hef’s Bar & Grill, Madison Golf & Country Club, and The Point — also contributed to the cause. While their kitchens weren’t open on event day, their sponsorship helped ensure the continued success of Dine Out to Donate.
Funds raised will help support IAUW’s 2026 campaign, which provides grants to nonprofit agencies delivering services in the areas of food and housing assistance, childcare, education, health, and more.
Giles noted that IAUW’s annual campaign drive is now in full swing, and community members can take part by donating or pledging before the end of the year.
“We’re also excited to bring back the 15×15 Challenge, sponsored by East River Federal Credit Union,” she said. “Anyone who gives or pledges $15 or more to this year’s campaign will be entered into a raffle for one of two $500 cash prizes. It’s a fun way to inspire giving while doubling our community’s impact.”
IAUW also encourages local employers to offer payroll deduction options for their teams. The organization is happy to visit businesses or civic groups to share a short presentation about local impact and ways to get involved.
